 CUA's Residential Experience

 Faith - Hope - Charity

Living in the vibrant residence hall communities that make up CUA, is about much more than having a place to sleep. Students active in their community will have the opportunity to grow and develop promoting collective and intellectual greatness. In our increasingly complex and global world it is vital that students be given the tools to succeed. We believe that a firm foundation in the theological virtues of Faith,Hope and Charity will empower our students to be positively contributing members of our globalized society.
We invite you to explore the opportunities that exist through living on campus at CUA and challenge you to commit yourself to the virtues of faith, hope and charity during your time as a student at The Catholic University of America.

Faith is a core component of the student experience at The Catholic University of America. To develop students engagement and understanding with their spirituality, both in college and in life, we will strive to develop each individual’s sense of self and help them to cultivate meaning and purpose in their lives. Moving forward we will strive to create opportunities, experiences and resources to assist students in their faith journey. Students will be able to:

  • Define personal values and make appropriate decisions to support those definitions
  • Participate in spiritual activities
  • Explore how faith impacts all aspects of the world around them

Developing a sense of hope provides each student the tools to make life decisions in alignment with their values and core beliefs. The Catholic University experience instills pride in excellence, challenging each individual to take charge in their lives, both in and outside of the classroom, to achieve their greatest aspirations. Students will be able to:
  • Demonstrate respect for self
  • Develop an appreciation of learning in order to maximize academic success by spending more time on educationally purposeful activities
  • Make responsible choices about personal safety

Charity is an important virtue for all college students to develop in order to participate as positive and active members of any community. Students of the Catholic University of America will gain experience and skills that will further develop them as charitable persons. Students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a respect for others
  • Demonstrate respect for different ideas and perspectives
  • Articulate and act on personal views with others concerning society issues (poverty, politics, social justice)
