Welcome to Catholic University's Campus Community! Move-in day is a busy and exciting time on campus.This page is designed to provide you with information to help make your arrival to campus as smooth as possible.

If you have any questions at any time while you move in, look for the students wearing BLUE shirts. They are student volunteers here to make this process the best experience it can be! Opening of the residence halls will take place on the dates and times listed below.

Move-in Information for New Students

Move-in for new students is an exciting time! Students begin their Catholic U experience immediately upon arriving to campus. Students will meet new people and share the excitement or nervous anticipation of moving into a new place. Regardless of the emotions, the Catholic University staff in BLUE shirts will strive to make your move-in day successful. Please familiarize yourself with the information below to help make your move-in day easier!

 

 

Reminders for Move-in

Remember that Orientation opening sessions are scheduled by last name. Please use your Orientation opening session as a guide to schedule your arrival at your check-in location. Staggered arrival will help ease traffic flow and will decrease your wait time at our check in locations.

Please utilize the following suggestion to guide your arrival time on August 23, 2018

Students with last names A-F and Honors students 8:00am-10:00am
Students with last names G-M 10:00am-12:00pm
Students with last names N-Z 12:30pm-2:00pm


We strongly recommend that you label all your boxes and belongings with your last name, residence hall and room number prior to arrival, to ensure that your belongings are not confused with other students who are moving in. 

When you arrive at your check in location, staff in BLUE will be there to greet you and provide you with instructions abou the move-in process. You can check in to both Orientation and your Residence Hall at your check-in location. 

If you own a hand-truck, we recommend you bring it with you. Hand trucks and bins will be available on campus but quantities are limited. 

 

Maps and Traffic Flow

Traffic will be managed by the Department of Public Safety and by Student Leaders in BLUE on move-in day. The traffic flow on move-in day will differ from regular traffic patterns on or around campus. Please use the maps and directions below to plan your route to campus.
 

For residents living in a Centennial Village house, please click HERE for a campus map with move-in directions. 

  1. Plan to arrive to campus from Michigan Avenue, entering at the intersection of 7th and Michigan Ave. Drive west, towards McMahon Hall. Student Leaders and signage will be available to direct you to unloading zones.
  2. A student assistant will direct you to a specific unloading zone. Residents will be directed into CV Circle, which you will enter by using the driveway next to Curley Hall. Unloading zones are highlighted in blue on the map.
  3. In your unloading zone, a Move-In Crew, comprised of Student Leaders in blue, will help you unload your vehicle.
  4. While your car is being unloaded, we encourage students to check in with Orientation and Residence Life on the CV Sport Court.
  5. After unloading, please move your vehicle to permanent parking. This will allow another family to arrive in the unloading zone and start the move-in process.
  6. The Move-In Crew will help you and your family move your belongings into your residence hall.
For residents living in Regan, Ryan, or Flather, please click HERE for a campus map with move-in directions.
  1. Plan to approach the residence halls heading east on Taylor St. You will turn right onto the exit for John McCormack Road.
  2. A Student Leader will direct you to your specific unloading zone, Residents will be directed to the correct unloading zone in front of Opus Hall or behind Regan and Ryan Halls. 
  3. Park in your unloading zone. A Move-In Crew, comprised of Student Leaders in blue, will help you unload your vehicle.
  4. While the car is being unloaded by the Move-In Crew, family members, and/or other helpers, incoming students may proceed to the check-in tables in their individual residence halls to check into the Residence Hall and Orientation.
  5. After unloading, please move your vehicle to permanent parking. This will allow another family to arrive in the unloading zone and start the move-in process.
  6. The Move-In Crew will help you and your family move your belongings into your residence hall.

Parking

During Move-In 2018, parking will be limited around the Residence Halls. Cars will be not be permitted to park, and owners will not be able to leave their vehicle in unloading zones. Permanent parking for Orientation will be available at the DuFour Center, O'Boyle Lot, and in the large parking lot at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (across Harewood Road from the Shrine). A campus shuttle will be running from these parking lots to various points on campus throughout the day.
 
Please note that the parking lot for the Basilica of the National Shrine closes at 7:00 p.m on Friday.
 

Checking In

Student Leaders in blue will be directing traffic to the unloading zones and will then direct you to the appropriate check-in location. New students should visit the check-in stations while the Move-In Crew start to unload the vehicle. Find your hall below to identify your check-in location:

  3. After unloading, please move your vehicle to permanent parking. This will allow another family to arrive in the unloading zone and start the move-in process.
For residents living in Millennium North, Millennium South, or Opus, please click HERE for a map with move-in directions.
  1. Plan to approach the residence halls heading east on Taylor St. You will turn right onto the exit for John McCormack Road.

Parking
